Receiving and putawayASN (Advance shipping notice)

The supplier announcing a shipment in advance: items, quantities, pallets and label data. With an ASN receiving is scan-based; without it, it is count-based.

Making the operator count without showing the expected quantity. It improves counting discipline and exposes supplier shortages, at some cost in time.

Routing incoming goods straight to shipping without putting them away. It lowers holding cost but demands accurate ASNs and tight timing.

Taking incoming goods into stock by counting, checking and recording them. Errors made here (wrong item, short quantity, skipped check) propagate to every later process.

The system document for a shipment expected from a supplier or another warehouse. It is born from an ASN or purchase order; receiving is posted against it.

Receiving that counts more, less or damaged goods versus the document. The three basic exception types; each needs its own reason code, photo and supplier notice.
