WMS by industry

Fifty industry names do not justify fifty WMS landing pages. What changes in the warehouse is traceability, cube, SKU size, work orders and legal record — not the sign on the gate. This page folds common industry searches into the families where a WMS demo actually diverges.

Why “sector = WMS page” fails

Searchers type “food WMS”, “automotive WMS”, “packaging WMS”. The answer is usually the same product with a different rule set. Food and pharma share lot and expiry; automotive and tyres split on SKU and cube; chemicals and paint split on segregation. Fifty thin pages inflate the search box and repeat one paragraph.

WMSTurkiye asks warehouse type first (3PL, fulfilment, bonded, plant). Industry is the rule set on top of that type. The families below are demo scenarios, not vendor storefronts.

Twelve operating families

Food, beverage, fresh and packing. Lot, expiry, FEFO, waste, sometimes a cold zone. Fresh produce is not the same demo as ambient packaged goods. Food / cold-chain analysis →

Pharma and medical devices. Serial/lot, hold-release, ITS/UTS overlap, recall. A “pharma module” claim is empty without a floor rule. Pharma warehouse analysis →

Automotive and spare parts. High SKU, part-to-vehicle fit, kitting, sometimes JIT. Tyres need a bulky-goods rule of their own. Automotive / spare parts →

Textile, leather, apparel. Colour-size explosion, assortments, hanging vs shelf, return quality. Textile analysis →

Electronics, electrical equipment, white goods. Serials, high value, ESD or two-person lift; store replenishment is not e-commerce pack. Retail / white goods →

Chemicals, paint, resin, plastics, glass, ceramics. Incompatible segregation, lot, sometimes DG class. Ask for the floor rule, not a “chemicals page”.

Metal, machinery, CNC, heavy industry, mining. Heavy/long goods, floor addresses, work orders and line-side. Pallet-bin WMS assumptions break here. Plant warehouse →

Packaging, paper, print. Length, reels, job tickets and waste. SKU count looks small; the unit is often a roll or mixed pallet.

Construction, furniture, wood. Cube, stacking, yard, damage. If the address is not a rack, default WMS assumptions fail. Bulky goods →

Agriculture and farm machinery. Season, batch, and sometimes spare parts plus machine bodies under one roof — two floor rules stacked.

Cosmetics, cleaning, sporting goods. Expiry or batch, small carton, sometimes store assortment. Cold chain is rare; mix-up and returns are not.

Manufacturing, automation, robotics; aerospace and defence. Work order, serial, quality record. If robots or AS/RS exist, whose task queue? Defence and aerospace put the audit trail before the sales order. Automation investment →

Where common sector names land

These names are not product pages. They tell you which family to write the demo around.

  • Food, food & beverage, food processing, food packing → food / fresh / cold
  • Pharma, medical devices → pharma and health
  • Automotive → automotive / spare parts; tyres also bulky
  • Textile, textile machinery, leather → textile family
  • Electronics, electrical equipment, white goods → electronics / retail distribution
  • Chemicals, chemical production, paint & coating, resin, plastics, plastic moulding, glass, ceramics → process / segregation
  • Metal, metalworking, machinery, CNC, heavy industry, mining → plant / heavy goods
  • Packaging, print & pack, paper, print, advertising → packaging / print
  • Construction, building materials, furniture, furniture production, wood → bulky / building
  • Agriculture, farm machinery → agriculture
  • Energy, water treatment → energy / process spare
  • Aerospace, defence → audit trail and quality
  • Cosmetics, cleaning products, sporting goods → small carton / batch
  • Automation systems, industrial automation, industrial robotics → plant / automation

Next step

Do not search software by industry label. Write the warehouse type and the rule, then put the same scenario to every vendor.

Narrow a shortlist or pin the warehouse type.
