WMS for customs warehouses and free-zone facilities

In a customs warehouse the same product is a different stock depending on its customs status. The WMS must link every stock record to the related customs transaction and keep it apart from goods in free circulation.

Concepts

According to the Ministry of Trade, the customs warehousing procedure applies to goods that have not been subjected to import duties and trade-policy measures and have not entered free circulation, and to goods in free circulation that may benefit from export measures when placed in a warehouse [1]. The Ministry also publishes questions and answers on temporary storage, customs warehouses and free zones [2].

Customs rules and obligations vary by warehouse type and authorisation. Define your WMS requirements together with your customs broker and the conditions of your warehouse licence.
